The Depot

Nestled in the heart of Dolores, The Depot is more than just a restaurant—it’s a beloved local institution. Located at 520 Railroad Ave, Dolores, CO 81323, this old-school diner has been serving up hearty American comfort food with a touch of Southwestern flair for years. Whether you’re a road-tripper passing through or a regular who knows exactly what to order, The Depot delivers consistency, quality, and that unmistakable small-town charm.

A Menu That Defines Comfort Food

Step into The Depot, and you’ll find a menu that speaks to classic American cravings. Their burgers are a must-try, from the signature Depot Burger to the bold flavors of the New Mexico Burger. If you’re after something different, the Bar-B-Q Sandwich or Grilled Chicken Sandwich offer satisfying alternatives. For those who appreciate a good burrito, the Smothered Meat & Bean Burrito is a local favorite, packed with flavor and generously portioned.

Breakfast lovers can start their day with a Depot Burrito, a hearty three-egg omelet, or the homestyle biscuits and country gravy. On the side, crispy French fries, onion rings, and jalapeño poppers round out the menu with the perfect amount of crunch. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the portions are generous, and the flavors are always on point.

A Classic Diner Atmosphere with Modern Comforts

Beyond the food, The Depot is known for its inviting, laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant strikes a balance between nostalgic diner charm and modern convenience. Outdoor seating is available for those who want to soak in the fresh Colorado air, and private lot parking ensures a hassle-free visit. Families are welcome, with a setting that's good for kids and groups, and even four-legged companions are allowed.

While the restaurant stays true to its classic American roots, it keeps up with the times by offering takeout and delivery options. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite before hitting the road or planning a relaxed sit-down meal, The Depot accommodates a variety of dining preferences.

A Local Favorite for Good Reason

Few places can claim the kind of dedicated following that The Depot has earned over the years. Many visitors make it their go-to stop before heading into the wilderness, and for others, it's the first place they return to after a long trip. One customer summed it up best: "It's the burger I think about when someone says 'want a burger.'"

Breakfast at The Depot is another highlight, with many guests raving about the biscuits and gravy, describing them as "so good, I forgot to take a picture before digging in." Others swear by the New Mexico Burger, paired with queso fries and an ice-cold Zuberfizz cream soda—a combination that turns a simple meal into an experience worth repeating.

We stopped in for some breakfast. I forgot to take a picture before I tasted the biscuits and gravy. As you can see in my photos that it was just too good to stop. And it tasted all homemade.

It is our stop before we go to the wilderness and first place go when we come off the mountain. It's the burger I think about when someone says" want a burger" It's a burger joint, and they do it right.

We had the fish sandwich and I had tater tot's while my husband had the fries. It was just ok. The service was ok but they didn't know how anything came. Like what does the grilled cheese have, or what is on the fish sandwich. The food was pretty quick. While they do have outside seating the sun was beating down right on the tables so it was a bit warm outside.
